1. Actual News
  • We just received a new shipment of nice tack from Ligers n Tigons, please have a look to headstalls, breast collars and matching sets. There are also two more flank cinches and a pair of Lami Cell skip boots arrived.

2. General remarks
  • We are using in our item descriptions the following terms, abbreviations and units usually used for Western saddles and tack in the USA (who ever is not familiar with this terms, can find here some short explanations , for more details refer to "Links"):

a.) Terms
  • Belvin buckle: a quick change buckle, to adjust the stirrup length fast and easy
  • Bosal: Noseband of half " to 1" in diameter, mostly braided rawhide over a rawhide core, ends with a larger heel knot, is part of the Western Hackamore
  • Cinch: The front girth under a Western saddle
  • Chayenne roll: Flat leather roll on saddle cantle (extends the cantle often up to 2")
  • Highback cantle: Cantle which end mostly vertical abrupt at end of saddle seat
  • Mecate: A 20' to 22'long rope rein, made from horse hair or nylon rope, which will Be connected with slobber straps to a snaffle bit, forming a closed rein plus a lead rope end. Mecate, bosal plus bosal hanger builds the Western Hackamore.
  • Flank or back cinch: The back girth under a Western saddle
  • Latigo tie strap: usually 1 and a half" or 1 and three quarters" wide and 5" or 6" long leather strap, made from burgundy colored Latigo leather, which feels very soft and kind of "oily" (tie straps can also be made from harness leather or nylon webbing)
  • Off billet: a double leather strap fixed around the rigging D-ring on the right site of the saddle on which connects the cinch
  • Flank billets: two leather straps fixed right and left on the back rigging of the saddle, to hold the flank cinch
  • Quirt: Short and flexible Western whip, made from braided leather or rawhide
  • Romal reins: Closed reins with a loose extension, used as whip, mostly rawhide made
  • Wither trace: The profile of the horse, taken app. 2 " behind the shoulder blade (see links)

b.) Abbreviations
  • QHB: Quarter Horse Bars
  • Most saddles for Western horses are made with
  • a) Full QHB, which have a gullet of 7" or more
  • b) Regular QHB, with a gullet of normally 6 and 3 quarter" (called also Quarter Horse Bars)
  • c) Semi QHB, with a gullet of normally 6 and a half"
  • Unfortunately are in the US saddle industry no standards available, so it could be found also differences between saddles, depends on saddle maker.
  • HS: Headstall
  • BC: Breast collar (breast plate)

c.) Some american units, often used in saddles and tack descriptions
  • 1 Inch = 2,54cm
  • 1 foot = 30,48 cm
  • 1 lbs = 0,454 Kg

d.) Item descriptions
  • Manufacturer: Not all items are marked or labeled by the maker, so when ever we have not mentioned a manufacturer in the item description, then this item has no makers mark or a label.
  • Matching tack sets: All matching sets marked with a *, are real made as sets, means we can sell them only as set. On all other sets, the items can also be sold separately (we just put them together as a proposal for a matching set).
  • Bridle/Headstalls: When not other mentioned in the item description, all are in horse size.
  • Bit size : When not other mentioned, all bits are in size 5".
  • Halter size: All leather and nylon halters are in horse size, most of the rope and training halters we have in S, M, L and XL available.
  • Saddle seat & gullet size : All measurments given in the saddle description's are actually measurend on this saddle (means really available).
